It was definitely not a good day for batsmen. Australia won the toss and decided to bat but none of the batsmen other than Finch played long. Everyone got starts but couldn’t convert them to big scores. 13, 18 and 19 runs made by Philippe, Maxwell and Stoinis respectively were valuable contributions in the team’s score. New Zealand batsmen fail once again
156 runs seemed like a sub-par score but the Australian bowlers had confidence in them after the destruction they caused in the last match. New Zealand batsmen couldn’t take advantage of the bowling effort from the 1st innings. Whereas, the Australian bowlers once again got the better of the batsmen. Seifert 19(28) and Conway 17(20) were trying to stick around but were dismissed by Richardson and Agar respectively. Ashton Agar was once again effective as he picked 2 wickets giving away just 11 runs in his 4 overs. Kane Richardson got 3 wickets while Zampa and Maxwell picked 2 each to bundle out NZ 50 runs short of the target.
A combined bowling effort ensured NZ were never close to the target. Australia would like to continue this winning streak till the next match and win the series.
