Bangladesh bags a comfortable win against West Indies in the first ODI of the 3- match series. This match was the return of Shakib Al Hasan after serving a ban of 2 years. He never felt out of touch thanks to all the domestic cricket he played. He
announced his return by an economic 4 wicket haul.

Brief Scores

West Indies– 122/10 (32.2 Ov). K Mayers 40(56), Rovman Powell 28(31), Shakib Al Hasan 4/8, Hasan Mahmud 3/28.

Bangladesh – 125/4 (33.5 Ov). Tamim Iqbal 44(69), Mushfiqur Rahim 19(31), Akeal Hosein 3/26, Jason Mohammed 1/19.

Man Of The Match: Shakib Al Hasan

Revival of Shakib Al Hasan

Mustafizur Rehman gave a dream start to BAN after removing the inexperienced WI openers cheaply. Other batsmen never looked comfortable against the spin. Andre McCarthy 12(34) and captain Jason Mohammed 17(36) started to settle in. But Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan spun through WI middle order and bundled them for a mere 122 runs. Thanks to K Mayers 40(56) and R Powell 28(31) the WI total got past 100. The inexperienced WI team felt no match in front of Shakib. A 4-wicket haul was a perfect start for Shakib after his return in international cricket.

Bangladesh Chase Down But Only After Some Hitches

Liton Das 14(38) and Tamim Iqbal 44(69) started steadily with a 47-run stand. Alzarri Joseph bowled his heart out in his 8 over spell but wasn’t rewarded. The chase was already set but 2 successive wickets caused BAN to slow down. The experienced trio of Shakib 19(43), Mushfiqur 19(31)* and Mahmudullah 9(16)* finished of the game with ease.

Bangladesh now lead the 3 match ODI series with 1-0. The inexperienced WI team must now come together and jot down a plan to get past these Bangla Tigers.
