BCCI released the dates and venues for the IPL playoff matches. Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be the grounds where the four teams will fight for the crown.
The schedule states that the first qualifier (between 1st and 2nd position) will be played on the 5th of November is Dubai. It will be followed by the eliminator (between 3rd and 4th position) on 6th November in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi will also be host to the second qualifier (between winner of eliminator and loser of qualifier 1) on 8th November. The final will be held on 10th November in Dubai between the winners of qualifier 1 and 2.
4TH SPOT IN THE TABLE UP FOR GRABS
The IPL points table this year has panned out rather interestingly. While the top 3 positions (MI, DC, RCB) seem quite certain at this point, it’s the 4th spot that has four contenders – Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
The most likely to qualify amongst them as of now is KKR who has 12 points in 11 games. They need 2 wins from their next 3 matches to confirm a playoff spot. KXIP can get a maximum of 16 points and every game from now on is a must-win game for them. SRH and RR have a chance, though not a direct one. They depend on KKR and KXIP’s losses to even have a chance for the
playoffs. It could possibly all come down to the net run rates of KXIP and KKR to decide which team will sit on the 4th position.
