India defeat England by 36 runs, win 5 match series 3-2. India posted a huge total on the board when they were asked to bat first in the series decider. Rohit Sharma provided the necessary impetus in the beginning of the innings. Virat Kohli played the role of the anchor while playing some beautiful shots. Explosive cameos from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya helped India reach a humongous first innings total of 224 runs. England in reply could manage only 188 as only 2 batsmen were able to get going.

England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss for the 4th time this series. He asked India to bat first unexpectedly. Virat Kohli made 1 change to his side by adding a 6th bowler T Natarajan instead of KL Rahul. He also opened alongwith Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli opened alongwith Rohit Sharma in this innings. For the first time in this series, India did not lose a single wicket in the powerplay. Rohit Sharma played a fantastic knock of 64 runs off just 34 balls. He was supported by Virat Kohli who played the anchor role until Rohit was dismissed.

Then Suryakumar Yadav came in at 3 and completely blew the opposition. He scored a quickfire 32 which comprised of 2 sixes and 3 fours. Then Hardik Pandya was given a promotion to provide the necessary flourish to the Indian innings. He did not disappoint as he scored 39* off just 17 deliveries. Meanwhile Virat Kohli carried his bat through the innings. He powered his way to 80* and played some fantastic shots in between.

Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan share a 130 run partnership

England began their run chase of 225 runs. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar clean bowled Jason Roy in the first over to put England on the backfoot. Then Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan had a brilliant partnership of 130 runs. They were threatening to take the game away from India. Both of them scored their respective half-centuries.

But then Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the partnership again. He dismissed Jos Buttler. Then it was a collapse from the English team as they were reduced from 130-1 to 174-8. Shardul Thakur got the maximum of 3 wickets. Hardik Pandya and T Natarajan also got a wicket apiece. India won comfortably in the end by 36 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb spell of 4 overs for just 15 runs. He also took 2 extremely crucial wickets.

Virat Kohli was given the Man of the Series award. He scored 231 runs at an average of 115.5 runs. He also scored 3 half-centuries, and he was undismissed in all of these 3 innings.
