RCB beat MI by 2 wickets, Mumbai lose their first match again. It was a thriller of a match. The match went to the last ball when 1 run was required off 1 ball.

Man of the Match: Harshal Patel

The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to field first. There were quite a few debutants from both teams. Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Rajat Patidar and Harshal Patel made their debuts for RCB. For the Mumbai Indians, Chris Lynn and Marco Jensen made their debuts.

Lynn dismissed on 49 in his first innings for MI

Mumbai started well and they were 93-1 at the end of 10 overs. This was mainly due to Chris Lynn who scored a fluent 49 in his debut innings for MI. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan also made quick cameos which helped MI reach a decent score.

Harshal Patel takes 5 wickets, 3 of which in the last over

Harshal Patel was the star performer for RCB. He took 5 big wickets while bowling the crucial overs in the match. He bowled the 20th over where he took 3 wickets in a span of 4 balls. harshal also gave away just 1 run in the last over. This completely took away the momentum from Mumbai. They could set RCB a target of only 160 runs.

Maxwell hits 2 sixes, he did not hit a single six in the 2020 IPL for Punjab

RCB were very stable in their run chase when Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were having a partnership. Maxwell in particular looked in great touch. Unable to hit a single six for Punjab in 2020, he hit 2 maximums en route to his 39. But then a collapse happened for RCB and they were reduced to 122-6.

AB de Villiers rescues RCB again, scores match-winning 48 off just 27 balls

ABD came to rescue RCB again. He scored at a brisk pace and did not allow the pressure to build on him. But he was run-out in the last over with RCB still needing 2 runs off 2 balls to win. Harshal Patel scored the winning runs as he had a perfect day in the cricket field. 

Harshal Patel was adjudged the man of the match for his 5-wicket haul. He is the only bowler in IPL history to take a 5-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians. He also scored the winning runs for RCB. RCB beat MI by 2 wickets .
