After winning the toss at Sharjah skipper Kohli elected to bat first. They had a very good start as both the openers Finch 47(37) and Padikkal 32(23) set up a 67 runs opening partnership. It was the middle phase between the 9th and 15th over where KKR bowlers bowled really well. Finch and Virat found it difficult to time the ball. But then superman Ab de Villiers arrived and started hammering the KKR bowlers all around the park. Virat and ABD duo scored over 80 runs in the last 5 overs. ABD remained unbeaten at 73(33) and Virat finished at 33(28). As RCB finished at 194/2 on a slightly slow Sharjah track.

In reply KKR batsmen never got their innings running. They kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. The required rate kept climbing courtesy to some brilliant bowling by RCB bowlers. Only Shubman Gill crossed crossed the 30 run mark. Tripathi and Russel scored 16 runs each. And rest of the batsman like Banton, Rana, Morgan and Karthik lost their wickets on single digit scores. KKR eventually finished at 112/9. All the RCB bowlers chipped in with wickets. Morris and Sundar were the pick of bowlers with figures of 17/2 and 20/2 in their 4 overs. With this victory RCB have moved to the 3rd position in the points table.
