Once again, the Bangla bowlers came to the party as they bundled out WI for a mere 148. Spin did the trick again with Mehidy Hasan picking 4 wickets. Ban, with this win, take an unbeatable lead of 2-0 in this series.
West Indies : 148 All Out. Rovman Powell 41(66), Kjorn Ottley 24(44), Mehidy Hasan 4/25, Mustafizur 2/15.
Bangladesh : 149/3. Tamim Iqbal 50(76), Shakib Al Hasan 43(50), Raymon Reifer 1/18, Jason Mohammed 1/29.
Man Of The Match: Mehidy Hasan
Spin Woes Continue For West Indies
WI won the toss and opted to bat. This was a surprising decision especially after the first game. Mustafizur, as always, gave the opening breakthrough removing Sunil Ambris 6(15). But the middle order was dominated by spinners Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan. Kjorn Ottley 24(44) started to get comfortable but lacked experience and couldn’t go much far. Shakib 2/30 and Mehidy 4/25 hunted in a pair taking a combined 6 wickets.N Bonner 20(25) and Powell 41(66) tried to hold things together but couldn’t last long. Alzarri Joseph 17(21) and Akeal Hosein 12(17) added few runs taking the total to 148.
Inexperienced West Indies Bowlers Exposed
The only thing BAN could have improved from the last game was batting. They showed a better chase this time but not the best. Liton Das 22(24) gave a flying start hitting 4 boundaries in the first 4 overs. His cameo was ended by Akeal Hosein who trapped him in front. Najmul Shanto 17(26) also played a couple of shots. But once he got out, it was all the experience of Tamim Iqbal 50(76) and Shakib 43(50)*. WI bowlers looked clueless against this duo. Once they got in, the target seemed like a cakewalk for them. Akeal, Jason and Reifer took a wicket each but wasn’t enough.
Bangladesh has already won the series and may be looking towards testing their bench strength in the next encounter at Chattogram.
