RCB batsmen once again fail to deliver.
It was the eliminator of IPL 2020 between SRH and RCB at Abu dhabi. SRH skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bowl first. But this time Virat and Padikkal opened for RCB at Abu dhabi. But it was Jason Holder who dominated the powerplays as he sent both the openers to the pavilion in quick time. Finch and AB then joined and held the innings to some extent. Just when Finch 32(30) was looking good he got out to Shabaz Nadeem. Moeen Ali came in and lasted for just 1 delivery as he got run out on a freehit. Ab de Villiers kept fighting alone till the end as he finished at 56(43). All rounders Dubey and Sundar too didn’t fire at the death. As RCB at Abu dhabi eventually finished at a below par score of 131/7. Holder and Natarajan picked 3/25 and 2/33.
Williamson & Holder take SRH home in a crunch chase.
Chasing the target of 132 set by RCB at Abu Dhabi. SRH too didn’t have the best of starts as they lost Shreevats Goswami for a duck. The duo of Warner 17(17) and Pandey 24(21) then joined and played some excellent shots and took advantage of the powerplay. But within a gap of 12 runs both well set batsman were dismissed.Priyam Garg was sent next but couldn’t do much as he finished at 7(14), with this RCB certainly found a ray of hope.But the experienced pair of Kane Williamson and Jason Holder ensured no more damage was done. Both played risk free cricket and waited for the bad balls. Although the chase got tighter at the end. The required rate had reached 10. But Kane 50(44) and Holder 24(20) duo took the match deep and finished it in style.
With 2 balls to spare SRH chased the target. It was 5th straight defeat for RCB in IPL 2020. Moreover 3rd straight defeat for RCB at Abu Dhabi. SRH will face DC in the qualifier match on Sunday.
