AS IT HAPPENED

Supernovas won the toss and chose to bat first. It was not a must-win game for Trailblazers as their huge win against Velocity had pretty much secured their final berth. On the other hand, Supernovas lost their first game against Velocity and if they had lost this one, they would have been out of the tournament.

Top 3 And The Rest For Supernovas

It was an innings in two halves for Supernovas. Their openers started off brilliantly, scoring 61-0 in the first 6 overs. They lost their first wicket in the 12th over, after which they were 89-1. They managed just 28 runs in between these 6 overs despite having two set batters on the crease.Their no. 3 and captain Harmanpreet Kaur too made a healthy contribution but it was since their 2nd wicket’s loss that their innings went downhill. They scored just 29 runs in the last 4 overs and ended on 146-6. 128 of them came from their top 3.

Solid Start But Mandhana Slowed Up

Mandhana and Dottin gave a solid start, chasing a good enough total. They were 43-0 after the powerplay and looked set to chase the score down. But after the powerplay Mandhana chewed up balls and failed to accelerate when needed. She made 33 off 40 deliveries which added pressure on the middle order.

Deepti Sharma – Close Yet So Far
Deepti Sharma came in the 7th over when Trailblazers needed 98 off 13.1 overs. She batted till the end and took the game close but fell short by 2 runs. Radha Yadav put up an excellent show of death bowling. She gave away just 5, 9, and 7 runs in her last three overs in the death which handed Supernovas the match.
