India beat Australia in 2nd T20I to clinch T20I series

In a close encounter which went till the final over. Team India emerged victorious as they chased 195 with 2 balls to spare. Moreover they even clinched the T20I series 2-0.

Skipper Wade and Smith play crucial innings to take Australia to 194.

It was the 2nd match of the T20I series being played at the SCG. Skipper Kohli win the toss and straight away opted to bowl first. Australia didn’t have the services of Aaron Finch, Mitch Starc and Hazlewood for this match. But yet Australia had a great start as stand in skipper Mathew Wade went after the Indian opening bowlers. They had a very good start but Darcy Short 9(9) fell to T Natarajan in the 4th over. Wade though continued his aggressive approach as he was joined by Steve Smith. But Mathew Wade 58(32) eventually departed due to a run out.

The stage was very much set for the big hitters to launch their shot. Glenn Maxwell 22(13) and Moises Henriques 26(18) gave contributions but couldn’t last long at the crease. Steve Smith 46(38) too got out trying to loft one out of fence. But few timely boundaries by Stoinis and Sams took Australia to 194/5. T Natarajan picked 2/20 while Thakur and Chahal picked 1 each.

Contributions from Dhawan, Kohli and Hardik Pandya takes India home.

Chasing 195 India had a quiet first few overs. But KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan started attacking in the last few overs of powerplay. KL Rahul 30(22) though got out in the 5th over. But later skipper Kohli and Dhawan joined in played good cricket. But Dhawan 52(36) perished after his half century in the 11th over. Sanju Samson 15(10) got a promotion and played few entertaining shots but lasted for just 10 balls. Hardik Pandya came to the middle after fall of 3rd wicket.

But Virat Kohli took responsibility of slogging and played few good shots. But got out to Daniel Sams at the score of 40(24). Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya had an up hill task of score above 40 in last 3 overs. But few big hits by both helped Team India chase the score with 2 balls to spare. With 14 needed of the last over, Hardik Pandya 42(22) smashed 2 back to back sixes to seal the match. With this win, Team India clinched the T20I series 2-0.
