MI vs KKR Match Preview, Predication XI

A settled team in Mumbai Indians will pose a huge challenge to Karthik’s team who are looking to get their campaign on track. Mumbai has won their previous 4 games whereas Kolkata is coming into this game after an embarrassing defeat from RCB.

Mumbai Indians is not only on top in the points table but other aspects too. So far in this year’s IPL, Mumbai Indians has the Best Run Rate in power play, Best Run Rate in the death overs and the Best Economy too.

Slow Pitches Might Change Mi’s Plans?

The pitches in UAE are getting slower and slower. Spin has emerged to be a force to reckon with, especially if there’s quality. Mumbai’s spinners have done pretty good so far but there will be a temptation to play another spinner in their side. Mumbai’s head coach Mahela Jayawardene has said that at the moment, they’re pretty happy with the pace heavy attack.

Kolkata – Big Names But No Gains

Kolkata Knight Riders have some of the biggest names in T20 cricket. With Russell, Morgan and Narine in their ranks, it’s tough to believe that they’re struggling to keep the top 4 spot. It’s been their batting that has underperformed in spite of the names that they have. On the other hand, they’re young bowling arsenal with Cummins being the only accomplished international bowler, has done much of the points hunting for the team.

Too Much Chopping And Changing At The Top

KKR used Narine as an opener early in the season, which did not go their way. Then came in Rahul Tripathi at the top who scored a match winning 81 against CSK, but was dropped from the opening after just 2 games. Against RCB, KKR roped in Tom Banton to pair with Gill. Too much chopping and changing has shown KKR’s desperation to get their combinations right. Chris Green might play tonight, who should’ve been a like-for-like replacement for Narine.

Home Away From Home
Both for Mumbai as well as Kolkata, Abu Dhabi has been their home away from home. Both these teams are staying in Abu Dhabi and are playing a good number of matches here. While KKR has won 3 of their 4 games in Abu Dhabi, MI has 4 victories from 5 matches.
