Kumara Sangakkara in 2016 once said that “Batsman’s can win you matches and bowlers can win you tournaments”. For a team to be successful they must have a good batting line up and a lethal bowling attack. Teams like CSK, MI, SRH ,KKR have won tournaments because of joint contributions from their Bowling attack. So here we will be ranking bowling attacks based on their quality and variety for the upcoming season of IPL.

8)Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are placed at 8 in our list. They have got Archer, Tom Curran, Stokes, Oshane thomas, Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot, Varun Aaron, Unadkat and Kartik Tyagi in the pace department. Whereas they have spinners like Gopal,Markande, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia. Although Archer and Gopal did will last year but somehow this bowling attack doesn’t excite anyone. The pace battery still looks fine but they lack experience in the spin bowling department. With UAE pitches assisting the spinners this might hurt the Royals chances in IPL 2020.

7)Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab are ranked 7th in our list. They have Hardus Viljoen, Sheldon Cottrell, Chris Jordan, Jimmy Neesham, Mohd Shami, Ishan Porel and few domestic bowlers in the pace department. Mujeeb, Maxwell, Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin in the spin department. Once again the pacers look just fine but no big names other than Mujeeb in the spin department. Letting R Ashwin go might prove them costly. As now they lack quality in the bowling line up. They will have to depend on Murugan Ashwin or Ravi Bishnoi as the their 2nd spinner. And both of them lack experience.

6)Royal Challengers Bangalore

In at 6 are the Royal Challengers from Bangalore. They have certainly strengthened their bowling line up for this year with new additions. They even have variety in both Pace & spin department. But then somehow once again they lack bowlers to bol at the death. They have Dale Steyn, Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Mohd Siraj in the pace department. Yuzi Chahal, Adam Zampa, Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar, Negi and Shabaz in the spin department. Well their bowling unit looks alright. It has quality and Variety but still they might face problems in the death.

5)Mumbai Indians

Well some might be surprised to see Mumbai Indians at 5. They have an excellent pace bowling department. A line up that can demolish any team but then they lack quality spinners. They have Bumrah, Boult, CoulterNile, Hardik, Dhawal Kulkarni in the pace battery. Bumrah and Boult will definitely look after the pace department with ease. But in the spin bowling department all they have got is Rahul Chahar, Krunal Pandya, Jayant Yadav. Given the fact that UAE pitches will assist the spinners and they have a huge role to play. MI might just lag behind in the pace department. But hopefully the world No 1 and No 2 ranked pacers will pull them back.

4)Sunrisers Hyderabad

At 4 we have the Sunrisers from Hyderabad. A team known for their lethal bowling line up. Billy Stanlake, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sid Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi as pacers. They lack a quality overseas pacer but the likes of Bhuvi,Kaul and Khaleel can do the job. Rashid Khan and Mohd Nabi will play a huge role in the spinners department. But other then these two they dont have ant big names although Shabaz Nadeem has a good economy rate but the others like Abhishek Sharma, Fabian Allen, Abdul Samad lack experience.

3)Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR are placed at 3 and have got lethal pacers like Patt Cummins, Lockie Fergusan, Andre Russel, Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Chris Green in the spin department. With these names the bowling line up looks more or less well settled. But a lot will depend on Patt Cummins, Sunil Narine and their form and fitness. Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi have done well in the IPL circuit but they lack experience. But having said that they still have a brilliant bowling line up.

2)Chennai Super Kings

One of the most successful teams of IPL at 2, they are none other than Chennai Super kings. Led by a Magician MSD they have Josh Hazlewood, Sam Curran, DJ Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and few others in the fast bowling line up. Their biggest strength would be their spinners in which they have quality and experienced spinners like Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner, Piyush Chawla, Ravi Jadeja, Karn Sharma. Loosing Harbhajan Singh was a huge setback for them but yet they look very good with plenty of options in both pace and spin department. With the kind of assistance UAE pitches are going to offer to the spinners definetly the CSK bowlers will have a great outing max number of times.

1)Delhi Capitals

On top of the hill we have the Delhi Capitals. As they have Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Keemo Paul, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Mohit Sharma in the pacers unit. No that’s a good blend of National and International pacers. But their biggest strength will be their spin bowling unit with players like R Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel. They undoubtedly have got the best bowling line up in the tournament. Addition of R Ashwin will definitely give them some confidence. Fierce Pacers and Variety of spinners will definitely help Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.
