India defeat England by 7 wickets, Kishan scores 56 on debut. The Indian bowlers also performed really well. They used the pitch to their advantage and were especially good at the death. India conceded just 34 off the last 5 overs and picked up 2 wickets in that phase. Skipper Virat Kohli scored his 26th T20 International fifty and safely guided the team home.

Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. This was obvious because chasing has been easier with dew coming in the second innings. But there were 2 debuts for India, both Mumbai Indians’ players. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan made their debuts and were handed over their caps.

For England, opener Jos Buttler was dismissed for a first ball duck by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Jason Roy looked good and was scoring at a decent strike rate. But India kept picking wickets at regular intervals to put pressure on the England batsmen. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur were the pick of the bowlers picking up 2 wickets apiece.

Ishan Kishan made an explosive fifty on debut

India lost KL Rahul early in the first over in their chase of 165. But debutante Ishan Kishan played his natural game. He kept playing attacking shots and the pressure was completely on the England bowlers. He got to his fifty in style by hitting a six off Adil Rashid.

Virat Kohli becomes the first batsman to 3000 T20 International runs.

Kishan was ably supported by captain Virat Kohli, who finally scored some runs after repeated failures. He reached his 26th T20I fifty by hitting a six over long off. He also in the process became the first batsman to 3000 T20 International runs. Kohli ensured there were no more wickets and guided India home safely.
